Implemented in the fall of 2002, Arsalyn Youth Forums is a program dedicated to supporting the civic engagement activities of high school Civic Engagement clubs throughout southern California. We currently support eight high school clubs throughout the San Gabriel Valley on the Rosemead, Mark Keppel, South El Monte, El Monte, San Gabriel, Arroyo, Duarte, and Bell Gardens campuses.
Clubs that are members of Arsalyn Youth Forums cover a wide variety of club brands SAVE clubs to Future Politicians of America clubs. These clubs supplement their existing activities by coordinating events with participating clubs throughout the Arsalyn Youth Forums organization. It is through this coordination that the clubs work together to promote civic participation and increase awareness of social and political issues.
Every year the chapters at each school sponsor townhalls on their individual campuses where all Arsalyn Youth Forums participants are invited to attend. The students also plan a day long mini-conference at a southern California college or university. These events are planned by an Executive Board made up of students from all participating schools. The officiers of the Executive Board are elected by participating students and the Board is responsible for the selection of topics and venues for all Arsalyn Youth Forums events. At the end of each year 150 students who have been active in Arsalyn Youth Forums activities participate in a trip to Sacramento where they meet with political leaders and legislative staff.
All Arsalyn Youth Forums activities are student planned and student driven.
